Grupa Azoty becomes CEE’s first company to offer fully biodegradable plastics
Grupa Azoty S.A. has launched a pilot line for the production of thermoplastic starch, with a capacity of 300,000 per year. The company has also signed cooperation agreements with Polska Grupa Opakowaniowa Opakomet S.A. and the Forestry Research Institute, as well as a letter of intent with the State Forests National Forest Holding. The signing of the documents, confirming the high business potential of the solution, took place at the Grupa Azoty Research and Development Centre in Tarnów on May 11th 2021.

Grupa Azoty partners Polish Chess Championship
The Polish Chess Championship began on Wednesday, April 28th. Grupa Azoty joined the tournament as its partner. The event is held under the patronage of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. Grupa Azoty has partnered the tournament as part of its sponsorship strategy to support key sports events in the country.

Grupa Azoty Group joins European Clean Hydrogen Alliance
A leader of the fertilizer and chemical industry in Europe and the largest hydrogen producer in Poland, Grupa Azoty has joined the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance. Launched by the European Commission in July 2020, the Alliance seeks, among other things, to deploy hydrogen as a competitive energy carrier in Europe.

Reappointment of Grupa Azoty Management Board Members for new term of office

At its meeting held on April 19th 2021, the Supervisory Board of Grupa Azoty S.A. reappointed members of the Company’s Management Board for a new 12th term of office, with effect from May 18th 2021.

KPT ScaleUp opens up opportunities to work with Grupa Azoty
Applications are now open for Poland’s largest Industry 4.0 accelerator programme. Participation in the KPT ScaleUp programme offers technological startups an opportunity to work with companies like Grupa Azoty. Winners receive a non-repayable grant of up to PLN 200,000 and a training and consultancy package worth up to PLN 50,000.

Green action agreement between Grupa Azoty and the Province of Kraków
Grupa Azoty S.A. and the provincial authorities of the Province of Krakówhave agreed to collaborate closely to advance air and climate protection goals. The joint action plan, which part of the project LIFE EKOMAŁOPOLSKA – ‘Implementation of the Regional Action Plan for Climate and Energy’ was signed by Witold Kozłowski, Marshal of the Province of Kraków, Tomasz Urynowicz, Deputy Marshal of the Province of Kraków, and Tomasz Hinc and Grzegorz Kądzielawski, President and Vice President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty S.A., respectively. The agreement, executed at the Research and Development Centre of Grupa Azoty in Tarnów on February 23rd 2021, commits Grupa Azoty S.A. to aim for the climate neutrality of its production processes and other activities in the Province of Kraków by 2050. The other attendees at the event included Marta Malec-Lech, Member of the Board of the Province of Kraków, and Wojciech Skruch, Deputy Chair of the Provincial Assembly of the Province of Kraków.
