In terms of resources, the hospital is the largest multi-profile healthcare facility in the Małopolska region. With close to 800 beds in 23 wards, the hospital provides inpatient care to over 40 thousand patients a year, also providing outpatient care to over 150 thousand patients a year in its28 outpatient clinics. The hospital’s team comprises over 1,450 employees.

In the fight against COVID-19, Grupa Azoty Group companies have made numerous in-kind donations of personal protective equipment and disinfectant fluids in recent months, and have lent several dozen company cars to healthcare facilities to transport medical supplies, among other things. The pandemic has clearly demonstrated the company’s declarations of corporate social responsibility are supported by concrete actions. We are happy that our efforts will again contribute to improving patient care at the Ludwik Rydygier Specialist Hospital in Kraków,’ said Tomasz Hinc, President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty S.A.

The funds provided by Grupa Azoty will be used to purchase a set of two magnetic resonance microscopy coils for imaging of the hand and orbital region. The coils may also be used to examine small joints of the hand and foot to detect pathological, post-traumatic, inflammatory and degenerative processes and cancers and to plan surgical treatment of these conditions.

‘This is not the first time our hospital receives support from Grupa Azoty S.A. In 2019, we received a donation of PLN 90,000, which was used to purchase surgical loupes with lighting and a piezoelectric saw. The equipment is used in microsurgical limb surgeries conducted by a team of doctors from the Małopolska Centre for Burns and Plastic Surgery and Limb Replantation,’ said Artur Asztabski M.D., President of the Management Board of the Ludwik Rydygier Specialist Hospital in Kraków.

The funds provided by Grupa Azoty S.A. will also be used to purchase a piece of medical gas equipment – an evacuator, which provides evacuation of gases generated during laser surgical procedures.
