Grupa Azoty S.A. and Air Products Continue Their Investment Process
The brand new plant represents the investment of the American producer of the atmospheric, process and special gases.

In the framework of the long-term contract signed by both companies, Air Products, the biggest technical gases supplier in Poland, on 8th May 2013 opened the modern plant for the carbon dioxide condensation in Tarnów-Mościce.  The whole plant is located within the area of Grupa Azoty S.A. The investment value equals 10 million euro. Grupa Azoty will be the supplier of carbon dioxide as a raw material in a gaseous form which is by-product formed in the process of chemicals production. This particular gas will be subjected to clarification and condensation in its new plant.

The carbon dioxide supplies from Grupa Azoty S.A. will be organized in the continuous manner, thanks to which Air Products will gain the stable supply as well as the high quality of condensed gas. Starting modern plant will enable Air Products to achieve significant increase in the production capacity. New plant allows 220 tones of carbon dioxide to be clarified and condensed within 24 hours.

“Carbon dioxide is very attractive compound, product which serves as some sort of special business, but still its development is not covered in the strategy of Grupa Azoty. That is why we were searching for stable and credible partner who could make use and improve sales of this product better. Therefore we sell Air Products our carbon dioxide as a raw material which is the product formed during the production of the ammonia synthesis gas. Thanks to the long-term contract previously signed, today is the day when the modern plant for the condensation of carbon dioxide is being opened. This is not our first project carried out with Air Products. The company is involved in the activities with Grupa Azoty through the plants in Kędzierzyn” – says Witold Szczypiński, Vice-President of the Management Board responsible for production, technology and development of Grupa Azoty S.A.
