Grupa Azoty’s projects recognised by European Clean Hydrogen Alliance

Two of the Grupa Azoty Group’s projects related to the hydrogen economy have been included in a pipeline of significant projects by the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance (ECHA). The proposed projects cover several areas of the hydrogen economy, including generation of hydrogen, production of ammonia, as well as production of hydrogen for a wide range of transport applications.

Launched by the European Commission in July 2020, the ECHA seeks, among other things, to deploy hydrogen as a competitive energy carrier in Europe. The ECHA’s mission is also to identify barriers in scaling up clean hydrogen and to contribute to research and innovation priorities. The purpose behind its published project pipeline is to integrate hydrogen value chains across Europe and to profile and support selected solutions.

“As a leader of the European fertilizer and chemical industry and the largest producer of hydrogen in Poland, we are playing an active part in advancing the hydrogen market. The projects we have submitted to the ECHA’s pipeline will allow us to secure us a solid position in hydrogen technologies. The ECHA’s decision to include our solutions on their list additionally confirms that the direction we have chosen is the right one,” says Tomasz Hinc, President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty S.A.

It should be stressed that the Grupa Azoty Group accounts for almost a half of Poland’s total hydrogen output. The Group has recently released its strategy for 2021–2030, envisaging projects intended to promote the hydrogen economy.
