The Grupa Azoty Group and the Mościce Housing Estate Council joined in the celebration of the Earth Day by organising a campaign called “Collect and Segregate”. During the event, green areas within the Mościce housing estate were cleaned up by some several hundred people – the residents, Grupa Azoty Group employees, preschool children, and students of primary and secondary schools.
The initiative sought to draw attention to proper waste segregation, in particular to responsible management of plastics manufactured by, among others, the Grupa Azoty Group. This year’s initiative of the Grupa Azoty Group and the Mościce Housing Estate Council marks the beginning of broader educational activities.
The organisers stressed that plastics are advanced materials with immense potential to contribute to environmental protection and saving resources. Proper management of plastics at every stage of their life cycle – from manufacture and design to use and recycling of plastic products – unlocks this potential, with collection, segregation and reuse playing a vital role in that cycle.
“As a socially responsible company, we want to contribute to promoting positive environmental behaviour. We take various measures to reduce our environmental footprint already at the production stage. For example, we continue working to improve production processes at our plastic production units – at present, we collect and reuse almost 90% of our production waste, we optimise processes and reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions. These efforts are complemented by initiatives such as the “Collect and Segregate” campaign, which supports the rational use of plastics at all stages of their life cycle,” said Tomasz Hinc, President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty S.A.
To help clean our planet, on April 22nd the Mościce Housing Estate Council and the Grupa Azoty Group encouraged the residents of Mościce and Tarnów to join the clean-up as part of the Earth Day. The cleanliness of our planet affects our health and the quality of our life. The future belongs to people who build it, so we must be responsible and protect what is important to us. Mościce – the garden city – has always been inseparable from the nitrogen plant Zakłady Azotowe, currently the Grupa Azoty Group. I am glad that the Grupa Azoty Group has joined a campaign promoting environmental protection and care for the natural environment,”said Edyta Kowalska, Deputy Chair of the Mościce Housing Estate Council.
At the invitation of the Grupa Azoty Group, the campaign was also joined by Cellfast and Dantar, plastics processing companies which provided the clean-up participants with gloves and plastic bags. During the finale of the event, held at the Grupa Azoty Group’s building (the Kwiatkowski Villa) in Tarnów, commemorative diplomas were presented to the children and teenagers who took part in the campaign. The Grupa Azoty Group also handed in small eco gifts.
