Wojciech Wardacki takes over as new Grupa Azoty President
On December 16th 2016, Friday, the Supervisory Board of Grupa Azoty S.A. appointed Mr Wojciech Wardacki, DSc(Econ), as President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty S.A. At the same meeting, the Supervisory Board removed the previous President Mariusz Bober. Both resolutions, i.e. the resolution appointing the new President and the resolution removing the previous one, took effect on the date they were adopted. The previous President held the office for less than ten months starting from last February.

The new President of Grupa Azoty, Wojciech Wardacki, 56, has long-standing experience in the chemical industry. He has served on the Management and Supervisory Boards of chemical companies, including as President of the Management Board of Zakłady Chemiczne Zachem S.A. and member of the Management Board of Ciech S.A. Since April this year, he has held the position of President of Grupa Azoty Zakłady Chemiczne Police S.A.

He has sat on the Supervisory Boards of PKP S.A., Gdańskie Zakłady Nawozów Fosforowych, Zakłady Chemiczne Zachem S.A., and Grupa Azoty Police. Since February 2016, he has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bank Ochrony Środowiska S.A. 

Mr Wardacki graduated from the University of Szczecin, where he earned his PhD in economics and worked as assistant professor at the Institute of Economics of Transport.  He studied as a grant holder at the Institute of Transport of the University of Cologne and worked as a lecturer at the Public Administration College in Szczecin.

He was a member of the Sejm (the lower house of the Polish Parliament) of the first term of office. 

“Management does not know the concept of revolution. My mission is to complete the integration of the Group, comprising four companies, while ensuring that they remain independent, and to enhance the Group’s market position,” said the newly appointed President. 

Grupa Azoty is the largest chemical sector company in Poland, listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. It was established following the consolidation of the chemical plants based in Tarnów, Puławy, Police and Kędzierzyn-Koźle. Grupa Azoty is the second largest producer of artificial fertilizers in Europe and a major manufacturer of chemicals.
